Parshat Hashavuah
This year we will explore the weekly Torah portion by seeing the text through the eyes of one of the most important medieval commentators, Rabbi Moses ben Naḥman Girondi, also known as Nachmanides. We will learn about the life and times of this rabbi, philosopher, physician, and kabbalist who debated Christian authorities in a famous disputation and made aliyah to Israel. We will see how his experiences and philosophy shaped his commentary on the Torah.

Do you know the Hebrew alphabet and can sound out words but struggle to understand the prayer book? In this class we will learn some of the grammar, vocabulary, and syntax of Biblical Hebrew, which is distinct from Modern Hebrew. The class is for people who already have a basic knowledge of the Hebrew alphabet and its sounds.
