Parshat Hashavuah
This year we will
explore the weekly Torah portion by seeing the text through the eyes of one of
the most important medieval commentators, Rabbi Moses ben Naḥman Girondi, also
known as Nachmanides. We will learn about the life and times of this rabbi,
philosopher, physician, and kabbalist who debated Christian authorities in a
famous disputation and made aliyah to Israel. We will see how his experiences
and philosophy shaped his commentary on the Torah.
